One of the common challenges with implementing any CRM or field services solution is integration into the accounting or ERP platform. Fieldmagic offers out of the box integration for Xero, MYOB Live, Quickbooks Online and Reckon, as these are the most common accounting packages available in the US, UK and APAC markets, where Fieldmagic is strong. However, many of our mid-market and enterprise clients will typically leverage accounting or ERP systems designed for larger organisations - whether this is SAP Business One, SAP ECC, JD Edwards, Netsuite, Pronto or one of the many other ERP packages on the market today.

As the team at Fieldmagic came across these requirements more and more often, it became clear that we would require a solution to integrating with these mid-market and enterprise ERP solutions, a task made even more challenging by the fact that these products are typically deployed on premise, behind firewalls and with various levels of security. After a lot of evaluation of both well known and more obscure integration platforms, Fieldmagic has chosen to partner with Dell Boomi to meet these complex integration requirements.

A Unique Architecture for a Fast Changing World

When looking at solutions for enterprise integration, it became clear that we would need to be able to integrate with on-premise solutions, which meant that the integration platform would need to be able to be deployed within a customer’s infrastructure. This can be fraught with danger as supporting a system that is deployed on premise can be a resource intensive and costly exercise, and could potentially make it challenging for Fieldmagic to meet it’s goals of providing responsive and reliable integration to our clients.

This is where Dell Boomi comes into it’s own. Unlike other platforms that often require complex software installations even before designing the integration, the unique architecture combines a drag and drop cloud design environment for us to develop and deploy integrations in the cloud, with an architecture that allows us to deploy the integration engine (known as an “atom”) onsite on a customer’s infrastructure. This architecture allows integration with both onsite and cloud based ERP systems, with the ease of support that comes with a cloud configuration environment, and the security of an enterprise integration platform.

Out of the Box Connectors for Netsuite, SAP and Microsoft Dynamics AX

One of the other key advantages of a platform like Boomi is that it provides out of the box connectors for major ERPs out of the box, while still allowing us to connect to any additional ERPs via standard APIs such as REST, SOAP or database. Specifically, Dell Boomi offers out of the box connectors for Netsuite, SAP Business One, SAP ECC, Microsoft Dynamics Nav, Dynamics AX and Dynamics Great Plains, and our team have now leveraged Boomi to integrate with other ERP systems such as Pronto ERP. Put simply, this significantly lowers the cost of implementation, speeds up the delivery, and increases the robustness of any ERP integration with Fieldmagic.

Recognised as a Leader in their Field

When it comes to enterprise software, track history is important. Dell Boomi has been recognised for the past 4 years straight as a leader in the integration space (iPaaS) by both Gartner and Forrester. This is due to the vision and architecture of the platform, as well as the robustness of enterprise features such as high availability deployment (known as molecules) options within the platform and enterprise security, while offering the ease of use of cloud with the deployment options of on site.
